Poi nel 2020 ha deciso di tornare sul palco del mister olympia 2020, ma diverse settimane prima dello show, flex lewis ha raccontato a tutti i fans del bodybuilding che a causa di un infortunio alla spalla, non sarebbe stato in grado di gareggiare.

Lo scorso anno ( 2021 ), durante la conferenza stampa del mister olympia 2021, niel hill, il trainer di flex lewis, ha annunciato che lo avremmo visto sul palco del mister olympia 2022, pronto a gareggiare contro big rami e tutti i ragazzi della categoria men’s open bodybuilding.

ci sono state molte polemiche sul fatto di un possibile invito, alcuni hanno ritenuto giusto che flex lewis, dovesse ricevere un invito a gareggiare al mister olympia, mentre altri hanno pensato che avrebbe dovuto qualificarsi come tutti i pro ifbb.

in questi giorni di maggio 2022, il campione gallese, ma molti anni residente in america, parlando con dan salomon, organizzatore del mister olympia negli ultimi anni, ha spiegato che preferisce dedicarsi alla sua famiglia e ad altri aspetti della sua vita, chiudendo definitivamente il capitolo gare.

Forse, anche la morte di Cedric McMillan, George Peterson e tanti altri pro ifbb ha influito in questa decisone e con un figlio piccolo nato proprio in questi giorni, il campione della pro league vincitore di 7 mister olympia, ha deciso di assegnare nuove priorità ad altri aspetti della sua vita, che sono sicuramente più importanti del mister olympia o dei vari trofei che avrebbe potuto vincere.
