l’arnold classic ohio 2020
road to Olympia?

The Exceptional Steve Kuclo
Exceptional is a good word to describe Steve Kuclo. The five-time IFBB champion is in the prime of his pro bodybuilding career, and is recognized as one of bodybuilding’s top competitors. Through the years Steve’s physique as well as his mindset has improved dramatically, as his training has shifted toward a more intelligent, targeted approach geared not only toward continual improvement but also longevity. That’s one reason why the man they call Kingsnake is on the cover of this month’s MD. But in the case of Steve Kuclo, there is a lot more than meets the eye.
Steve Kuclo’s dedication to excellence transcends bodybuilding. For 21 years while he was bodybuilding, Steve worked as a firefighter/paramedic where he fought fires, performed specialized rescues and delivered emergency medical care to others who were sick or injured. Steve Kuclo has earned respect in two very demanding careers, and has emerged as a world-class athlete and a role model for the evolution of the modern bodybuilder.
In previous issues of MD, we described how Steve trains standout body parts of his like shoulders, arms and chest. This month, we find out what the Team Allmax athlete does for his massive wheels in “Kingsnake Kills Legs! How Steve Kuclo Trains His Wicked Wheels.”
As we all know, seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath will be competing in December at the 2020 Mr. Olympia. Phil will be attempting to tie big Ronnie Coleman and the great Lee Haney for eight Mr. Olympia wins. This month, Peter gives a fly-on-the-wall account of how he witnessed the development of the man who many say may eventually be proclaimed the best bodybuilder in history in “How the Gift Arrived.”
Many bodybuilding fans have debated who is the greatest Olympia champion. Often, names like Ronnie Coleman, Lee Haney and Phil Heath are mentioned. No question these are great men in Olympia history, but if you go by the number of wins, the answer isn’t a man at all – it’s Iris Kyle, 10-time Ms. Olympia. Ron Harris has an exclusive interview with Iris as she prepares for one of the most highly anticipated comebacks in the history of our sport at this year’s Olympia Weekend in “Return of the Queen!10x Ms. Olympia Iris Kyle Is Back.”

Janet Layug has been a dominating presence in global Bikini competition since she turned pro at the NPC National Bikini Championships in 2013. In the years that followed, Janet scored nine wins in NPC and IFBB Pro League Bikini contests, elevating her to superstar status as not only a stunning competitor, but also a coach and trainer, while remaining one of the most popular Bikini competitors and fitness models in the sport. Nothing sets you apart from the garden-variety gym rat the way a thick, rugged back does. When you see a guy with tremendously built traps and lats, you instantly know this is no beginner, and this is no pump king who only hits the bench presses and curls. MD’s Ron Harris offers some pointers that will go a long way toward helping you build a back that makes onlookers pause in disbelief in “Blow Up Your Back! 9 Tips for Leviathan Lats.”
